Summer Sculpture Workshops with Sharon Kelly & Andy Shaw: A Creative Celebration
This summer, we were thrilled to host a lively series of Sculpture Workshops led by artists Sharon Kelly and Andy Shaw, held across three Saturdays at Kirkham United Reformed Church. These hands-on sessions brought together people of all ages to get creative, get messy, and craft something truly special.
Over the course of the workshops—on 31st May, 7th June, and 21st June—participants explored sculpting techniques using accessible materials and plenty of imagination. With guidance from Sharon and Andy, everyone had the chance to sculpt pollinator-inspired creations like bees, butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers—all in a fun, welcoming space.
🎨 Workshop Highlights:
- Led by experienced local artists Sharon Kelly & Andy Shaw
- Open to all ages and abilities—no experience necessary
- A playful, hands-on environment where creativity flourished
- Sculptures made with the community in mind for display
The final celebration of the project came during the Parade of the Pollinators at the Kirkham and Wesham Horticulture Show on Saturday 28th June, where many of the beautiful creations were proudly displayed as part of a joyful and colourful procession.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got stuck in, and helped make these workshops such a success. We loved seeing your ideas take shape—and your pollinators come to life!
